Marketplace rules & safety

ReSell's local marketplace connects people who want to buy and sell. Keep it honest, keep it safe.

What ReSell does — and doesn't — do

• ReSell does not process marketplace payments yet. Deals are arranged directly between buyer and seller and are not covered by buyer or seller protection.
• ReSell does not authenticate items. A listing being on ReSell doesn't mean it's genuine.
• “Email verified” means the seller confirmed an email address — it is not an identity check.

Fees

• Listing is free. Buying is free — buyers pay the item price plus any shipping the seller sets.
• There are no selling fees right now. If that changes, sellers will see the fee before they list and it will only apply to sales paid through ReSell.

Promoted listings

Listings marked Promoted are ones a seller paid to show near the top of results. They still have to match your search, filters and distance — paying doesn't let a listing skip the rules or moderation. Everything else is ranked without regard to payment.

Not allowed

• Weapons, ammunition and weapon parts
• Drugs, prescription medicines and drug paraphernalia
• Counterfeits, replicas or “inspired by” copies of branded goods
• Stolen goods, or items you don't have the right to sell
• Alcohol, tobacco and vaping products, live animals, and anything illegal where you are
• Misleading listings: wrong brand, wrong condition, stolen photos or hidden flaws

Listings can be held for review or removed, and accounts suspended, at our discretion. Automated checks only flag — a person makes the call.

Sellers

• Use your own photos and describe the condition honestly, including stains, tears, odors, repairs or missing parts.
• Only claim authenticity you can back up (receipts, proof of purchase).
• Never post your home address. Suggest a public meeting place, and share it in messages once you've agreed.

Buyers — staying safe

• Keep communication on ReSell. Be wary of anyone who pushes you to WhatsApp, email or text straight away.
• Meet in a busy public place in daylight, and bring someone if you can.
• Check the item before you pay. Never pay with gift cards, wire transfers or crypto.
• Ignore “payment screenshots”, overpayment stories and links asking you to verify an account or claim a payment.

Your privacy

Buyers see your username, general area and a rounded distance — never your email, address or exact location. Locations are stored only as an approximate area (about 2 km), and photo location data is removed when you upload.

Reporting

Use “Report” on any listing, profile or chat. You can block someone at any time — they won't be able to message you, and you won't see each other's listings.
